Ok, that title just means I'm going to cover a lot of territory in a short time.
Halloween dinner is starting to become a tradition, it happens sometime just before Halloween and it's something "gross". This year we has Sheep eyes (turkey meatballs with olives) and worms (spaghetti that I used black dye on that turned the noodles purple) and we had blood (fruit punch)to drink, naturally.
Jacob gets a spotlight in this post, just because he made me laugh. If you want to see the rest of the kids costumes go to my facebook page. Jacob and Ben got to dress up for Halloween at school for the first time EVER. Jacob couldn't wear his Gorilla costume to school because it has a mask so he found a witch costume in our costume bin. His friends at school didn't even know it was him. Jacob is a pretty confident kid to wear a girl costume to school!
I got all the stuff for this craft and cut and sanded the wood and invited my mom over for a craft day. I love that my mom is retired now and that she's getting into crafting. We plan on doing craft projects together regularly now.
Micah's birthday has come on gone and now I have a deacon (church thing if you're wondering)! I cannot get over the fact that I have a 12 year old 7th grade child, am I really old enough??? This year he requested cake balls, or cake pops. I had made some with my friend Yolawnda a few weeks before his birthday and he loved them. I also made a carrot cake in case the cake balls went to fast, we had lots of leftover cake balls and Micah was happy about that.
I could not get him to just look at me and smile, but that's ok, I got about a dozen pictures similar to the one below, he just kept making all these different faces at me and moving his head.
My sweet mom came over to babysit so we didn't have to worry at all about the kids. Micah (Jacob) usually watches his siblings and everything goes well, but we wanted to be able to have a night to just focus on each other and not have to check in on kiddos. My amazing and wonderful husband took me to dinner at PF Changs, we had gone there for our anniversary a few years back and I loved it but it was too pricey for regular dates, so we saved it for a more special occasion. Then we rushed over to the William Saroyan theater to see Kristen Chinoweth! We were in the VERY back row and could hardly see her but we could HEAR her and that was the important thing! She was amazing and I like her even more now. She has a great personality and is a Christian woman. Great night with my best friend.
Lastly, this has been the big thing in our lives lately. Our little girl got her ears pierced! She was so brave and didn't cry or hesitate at all. Daddy had previously said that 12 would be the age she would be able to get her ears pierced and I thought that was RIDICULOUS, so we compromised and said she could get them pierced when she asked (but I couldn't prod her). She has been asking for earrings since she was 2. I would tell her that she couldn't wear them though because her ears weren't pierced and she would just say that when she was older she wanted to get them pierced. Tyler somehow finally decided that he liked the idea and HE was the one to ask her if she wanted to get them pierced. We were at Fashion Fair Mall and she wanted to go into Clair's and Daddy asked...she was ready and she picked out these cute little Rainbow Daisy earrings. She even lets me do her hair now without a fuss so you can see her ears. Just in time for Santa to bring her some earrings in her stocking!!!
I made Tyler a big one, he said the small one would have been better, it was filling and he could hardly finish it. I think I would have been fine with the big one though ;)
She was very happy.
This was Ben getting off the bus, it was his first school bus ride and first school field trip. I grabbed the spider-man costume because it was the most handy and only one piece. He was happy to have it, he only complained later that I didn't bring the mask. Shame on me.

I found this at Goodwill for $4 several years ago. Jacob wore it for Halloween once and now it's Ben's turn, a very adorable Robin.
The Linfords gave us this very pretty princess dress (a hat too) that was Lauren's. I am so glad that Peyton wore this, she was so stinkin cute. We had a nap issue that day and she went to sleep about 30 minutes before it was time to get ready. I had to wake her up (not a good idea) She did not want a costume on, any costume, she didn't even want to go to trunk or treat. My sister Morgan came over early and helped me to literally tackle her hair with a few curling irons and we did without the make-up. It worked, I am so happy she got out of her funk and was dressed up so cute. At the time we took this picture she was still in her funk and did not want to look at me, that's ok, you can see her curls better this way! Oh, her little crown comb was from Stefanie Adams in the conference basket she gave us (she's my VT).
First trunk of the night, Sis. Tanner. The boys were off on their own. Peyton moved slower that molasses, she didn't even make it to every trunk before the candy ran out. She was enjoying it though. She gave away most all of her candy anyway.
Suckers are one of her favorites, funny, I always traded suckers or ended up throwing them out as they were the last thing left.
We had an old fashioned stick pull. Next to the chili and cornbread it was my favorite part of the evening. All my kids lost. They were all paired with people about twice their height though. Leg length makes a huge difference. I beat Margaret but she was good competition, then Kendra beat me (mostly because Margaret wore me down and Kendra's about a foot taller than me, no, really, I could have taken her). Melissa Bogle beat Kendra (but only because I wore her down and Melissa really is like a foot taller than Kendra, maybe 2 feet taller than me) I wish we had pictures of the girls, it was really fun.
Still more backtracking to come. Next up, candy corn parfaits.
After that I put the word in my chosen font printed from the computer on top of transfer paper and trace over it.
Then I paint the words in a contrasting color, I didn't take a picture of the final result, but I distress the edges with my sander and that's it. The look cute stacked on a shelf or hanging on a wall, or just by themselves.
I am also thankful for this cute, sweet, funny little girl. I played Barbies with her tonight. She was my mom's old Ken and I was Barbie. She makes them talk now and it is too cute. Family came over for cake and ice cream for Micah's birthday tonight and Micah's best friend Colton came too and is spending the night. It was a great night and I'm thankful to have so many of our family here close to us.

Anyone recognize the Witches hat from a super Saturday a few years back? It is among my very favorite SS items. I love how it looks with the paint colors on my door.
The boys, namely Micah, were so excited to carve our pumpkins, I think the little ones are too small and the giant one is too daunting for me. I always seem to be the one that ends up cleaning them out! How does that happen?

These boys always have the best costumes. Last year 2 of them were completely wrapped in duct tape except their heads and hands (wonder how they peed), this year they went dumpster diving to get their costumes.

Trick or treating Nana's neighborhood a bit.
Peyton was still pretty sick, so she didn't even wear her costume which was a bit too warm. However, she had lots of fun emptying Micah's candy bag and playing with all the candy. It was fun to watch her as she purposfully and dutifully shoved his candy under the couch.
Pooped out. I learned later that Jacob had 3 pieces of candy all night and Micah had none! Those silly boys, I think that when I was little a ate about a third of my candy that night!
